Most importantly, they sought to make the addition flexible so its use could evolve over time. Built over six months using reclaimed barn beams, old French roof tiles, and antique materials in line with the couple’s signature aesthetic, the diminutive building also allowed them to explore new design techniques, including scored cement flooring and large-scale stone work.Īfter the couple closed their office and store in Santa Barbara due to the pandemic, they needed a space on their Ojai compound to relocate all of the furniture and clothing, but wanted something more than a storage facility. Beautiful, long lasting phalaenopsis in a selection of colors has been placed in a decorative dark grey pot with muted gold patina and finished with moss. “It was a quarantine necessity,” says Steve Giannetti of the 850-square-foot studio now gracing Patina Farms, the sprawling Southern California property he shares with his wife and co-designer, Brooke Giannetti. While their house and property was incredibly beautiful, I think the most satisfying thing for me to see was this: Seeing someone have a dream and go out and make it come true. Steve said in the garden he chose to do similar color palettes for all of the plants, so there are actually not too many different plants. They had two days of an open house with 500 people each day – whew, what a lot of work giving tours to that many people! Visiting their house was like stepping right into the pages of their books! We have been admirers of their books for years and have been inspired by their beautiful home.īrooke and Steve gave tours of the inside themselves. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Brooke and Steve Giannettis Patina Farm this past weekend for a party to celebrate their book by the same name. They created one of the most charming homes and wrote about it in their multiple books – Patina Style, Patina Farm, and their newest book, Patina Living. He is an incredible artist Peter is very excited to help us create hardware for all of the antique doors (which are stacked all over our store) that we have collected for Patina Farm.
