With his help, after only a few tries, you managed to hit the target yourself. “Y/N…Y/N L/N! You’re Kakashi Hatake, right? I know all about ‘cha!” The five-year-old Genin tilted his head at you. “Yeah!” You shouted, “if I can become gooder with this ninja stuff, then mom and dad will be proud of me!” “Are you sure?” He raised an eyebrow at you, but due to his face being covered by his mask, his expression was quite difficult to read. He gave a quick mumble, a “hm” as a thank you, and tossed another kunai, hitting the target once more. “Wow!” You beamed, grabbing the attention of the gray-haired boy, who was suddenly made aware of your presence. ![]() You stumbled, coming to a stop, gazing at the kunai that pierced the center of a marked tree with wide, curious eyes. A short distance away, you laughed with childhood joy, playing some sort of chasing game with your best friend, when you saw the young boy training to perfect his amazing skills. With his scratched, little fingers, he tossed several kunai at a worn out target with astonishing accuracy. The day he first laid eyes on you, the innocent age of five years old, you both were. Even Hatake was left to wonder if it existed at all. They might as well have been dreams, as that version of you from years ago was long gone. How ancient they felt…as if belonging to another lifetime. He did nothing to stop the memories racing through his clouded mind. His wet, gray hair started to fall across his face. Kakashi leaned his back against a nearby tree, scratchy with bumpy bark. The rain slowly started to pour unforgivably. His own stupidity is what led him out here, lost in the woods, with no comrades around to help him out. He let the thought of you, his former friend and recent enemy, snatch away his years of training and sharp instinct. No…you were that smart, yes, but Kakashi knew that wasn’t the case. Perhaps, you purposely left your scent all over the woods on the very day that it would rain, knowing an excellent tracker like Kakashi would be the one to search for you, and you could leave him stranded in the woods. Even if he could summon his ninja hounds, it would be too late. ![]() Truth be told, Kakashi wanted to do this mission all on his own for an entirely different reason.Īnd this rain. Easiest way to go undetected.Īt least, that’s what he told the Hokage. Normally, Lady Tsunade would have ordered a full team of shinobi to partake in a task such as this S-rank mission, but with the powerful enemy Kakashi was assigned to hunt out, he insisted that he do it alone. He had an incredibly difficult mission during the storming season that the Hidden Leaf Village always endured around this time of year. He sighed, his hands in his pockets, dropping his gaze to the ground below, which would soon become mushy and wet with the horrid afternoon thunderstorm approaching. “Really?” He thought to himself, frowning at the sky with his one visible eye as a raindrop plopped on his Hidden Leaf headband. ![]() Today, he had a mission, one that landed him in the center of the woods, glaring up at the dark clouds with a bit of hatred as they too had their own mission apparently to make his life a living hell. On a rare day in which he could relax at home with his favorite book, the one with the worn out cover and words he had memorized over the years, he cherished the rain. Kakashi Hatake had horribly mixed feelings when it came to the rain. The wind was unforgiving, and with it, the rain. ![]()
